Mogao Grottoes

A system of Buddhist cave temples that were an integral aspect of the Silk Road history and lore from the 4th to the 14th centuries. The grottoes contain mural stories that were created over a span of 1000 years.

There was a sand storm the day we were there.

It is strictly forbidden to take photos inside the grottoes. These five pictures are "borrowed" from: Chinatravelguide.com
