Oasis in the Desert Along the Silk Road |

A system of Buddhist cave temples that were an integral aspect of the Silk Road history and lore from the 4th to the 14th centuries. The grottoes contain mural stories that were created over a span of 1000 years.
There was a sand storm the day we were there. |
